Ovulation Double Check by MFB Fertility

I won an awesome giveaway from MFB Fertility during National Infertility Awareness Week, and I wanted to share a bit about the amazing, revolutionary product I received! This post is not sponsored.

If you have PCOS, then you might know that traditional ovulation tests (OPKs) aren’t always reliable. I’ve not used OPKs in years, but when I did, they never worked for me. This is because women with PCOS often have high LH (the hormone that is measured by an OPK), without ovulation actually happening. This can be very confusing and frustrating when you’re TTC, especially if you have long cycles. That’s why I’m so glad that there’s a product like the Ovulation Double Check test!

This test measures progesterone in your urine, and is meant to be used after ovulation has occurred. Measuring progesterone is one of the best ways to confirm that ovulation has occurred, and now that can be done from home!

There’s two reasons I love this test. One, because it gives you a definitive answer without having to take a trip to the doctor. And two, it’s great for someone like me who has insanely long cycles (like 100+ days) and ends up taking thousands of pregnancy tests because you never know what’s going on with your body.

Of course, tracking BBT and cervical fluid are my usual ways of making sense of my cycles. However, since my miscarriage/D&C in January, I’ve not bothered with temping. I still haven’t gotten a period since then, but thanks to this test, I now know that I have definitely ovulated!

Last weekend I had some signs of ovulation, followed by a weird pressure/pop sensation on my right side. I’ve never so distinctly felt ovulation happen before. The very next day, I began experiencing some classic signs of rising progesterone. I also won the giveaway around then, and it really was the best timing! I couldn’t wait to try these tests out.

The giveaway prize included two adorable shot glasses/collection cups, a pair of socks (With cartoon sperm and egg on top, and “getting lucky” written on the bottom! So cute!), and seven Ovulation Double Check tests–the tests alone are a $40 value! That might seem pricey, but if you use them after detecting ovulation, these seven tests could last several cycles!

So let’s get into my experience with the test. They arrived on 4DPO, but I waited until 5DPO so I could use first morning urine as instructed. The tests are your basic dip strip kind and come with a comprehensive set of directions. One thing that is different with these tests is that one line is a positive result, while two lines is a negative result. I was quite thrilled to receive a positive result (shown below)!

I can’t even describe how much I love this test! It’s such an amazing concept, and I’m thankful that someone thought to make something like this available to the public. There are so many TTC tools that won’t work for women with PCOS, so it’s nice to have something that does!
